Cleaning & Care:

It is important to maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing thoroughly while wearing braces, to prevent: tooth decay, decalcification, or unpleasant odor &color changes to the teeth.

Eating soft food can help avoid additional pressure on teeth.

Special consideration:

Make sure to avoid aggressive sports ( boxing, street fighting ,wrestling )

It is important to wear a mouth guard to prevent breakage and/or mouth injury when playing sports.

Brush your teeth carefully specially when having multiple tooth fillings or high tendency for decalcification (caries).

While wearing a fixed retainer perfect brushing of the lingual ( inside part) of teeth is mandatory.

Take your time in order to eliminate plaque and to prevent gum bleeding. Brush from underneath the wires for reaching between the brackets and under the wire as food accumulates in this part, because braces parts are small and can pick up food remains easily.

It is designed to make brushing easier and to reach all areas. Tooth Brush has to be soft. There are different brands for orthodontic tooth brushes and are available in almost all pharmacies.

Flossing:

For areas between the teeth that a toothbrush can’t reach, use dental floss to remove food particles and plaque. Flossing takes more time and patience when you are wearing braces, but it is important to floss your teeth every day.
